Recent trends in the U.S. government's capacity to educate and train the future R&D workforce are cause for concern, according to Vice President for Academic Affairs José-Marie Griffiths.
Griffiths was among the scientists and scholars behind "Research and Development, Innovation, and the Science and Engineering Workforce," a new report from the National Science Board, the governing body of the National Science Foundation. The report was released July 16.

Judy Clare, director of Bryant's Amica Center for Career Education, tells USA Today that Skype interviews are here to stay due to convenience and flexibility, and are especially useful for students who seek an internship or employment while studying abroad.

Bryant VP at head of National Science Board study on U.S. competitiveness in science, technology

José-Marie Griffiths, vice president for academics at Bryant University, was quoted in scores of media outlets this week regarding a new study of trends in U.S. global competitiveness in science and technology.
The study was conducted by the National Science Board, the policy-making body for the National Science Foundation. Dr. Griffith, who chaired the committee charged with producing the biennial report, took part in two press briefings held in Washington, D.C., the day the study was released.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — On Oct. 6, public broadcaster WGBH, Bryant University and its radio station will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and live radio broadcasts on campus to mark their collaboration in bringing full-time classical music to Rhode Island.
Hosts Laura Carlo will broadcast live from Bryant between 6 and 10 a.m.; Cathy Fuller will broadcast between 2 and 6 p.m. At noon, WGBH and Bryant University leaders will gather for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on campus, followed by an evening reception in Providence marking the historic collaboration.
Bryant student-run radio gets boost from WGBH

The Providence Business News reports on a new partnership between Bryant's student-run radio station, WJMF, and WGBH. The partnership will "bring the latest technological advances in radio to the Smithfield campus and ... return classical music radio to Rhode Island." In addition, "experts at WGBH will work with Bryant students on the development of new broadcast platforms for the student-run station, including a smartphone application and the broadcast of WJMF in hybrid digital, or HD."
