Bryant partnerships in Spain create study-abroad/internship program for IB students

On Aug. 28, Bryant University signed an agreement with the University of Salamanca, the Salamanca Chamber of Commerce, and the study-abroad organization API establishing a specialized study-abroad program for Bryant students enrolled in International Business. This program adds value to the traditional study-abroad program with its inclusion of a business course taught in Spain, an intensive study of business Spanish, and an internship set up and monitored by the Salamanca Chamber of Commerce.

University’s international business program rises to 27th in Bloomberg Businessweek ranking; entrepreneurship jumps by 26 points

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Bryant University's international business program is now ranked 27th in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek, which released rankings of 14 specialty business programs earlier this month.

International business (IB) is among the University's fastest-growing undergraduate academic programs, with enrollment more than doubling between 2006 (with 150 students) and 2012 (with 322 students). Last year, the IB program ranked 41st.

Another Bryant program — entrepreneurship, currently offered as a minor and a concentration — is rising quickly in the Bloomberg Businessweek rankings. Debuting last year at 97th, the program shot up 26 points to a ranking of 71st this year. Beginning in January 2013, Bryant will offer a concentration in social entrepreneurship as well.

Bryant ranks 14th in undergraduate participation in study abroad programs, national survey reports

SMITHFIELD, R.I.  - Bryant University ranks among the top 15 colleges and universities for undergraduate participation in study abroad programs, coming in 14th in its Carnegie classification (Master's colleges and universities).

The rankings were released in the Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange, published annually by the Institute of International Education in partnership with the U.S. Department of State. Rankings are based on the percentage of graduating seniors who participated in a for-credit study abroad program at some point in their undergraduate careers. For academic year 2009-2010 (the most recent data available), 369 of Bryant's graduating 805 seniors - or 45.8 percent - had taken part in a study abroad program.

International business major lands ‘dream job’ with global retailer

SMITHFIELD, R.I.  - The ink on his diploma will barely be dry when international business major Ryan Letourneau '11 sets out for what he calls a dream job: He is one of just 10 people from around the world selected to participate in the International Graduate Training Program with Delhaize Group, a global food retailer based in Brussels, Belgium.

It is the first time Delhaize has selected Americans to participate in the training program, now in its second year. Letourneau, of Holden, Mass., credits Bryant's International Business Program for giving him an edge over the 750 other applicants, most of whom have MBAs.

Sovereign Bank, Santander Universities announce agreement to support Sophomore International Experience

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Sovereign Bank, a part of Banco Santander, announced today it has signed a three-year agreement with Bryant University in support of the University's Sophomore International Experience. The program provides second-year students the opportunity to travel abroad and participate in international study. Sovereign Bank will provide financial support through Santander Universities, a major initiative created by Banco Santander to support higher education and advance the bank's goal of expanding knowledge and experience throughout the world.

 "At Bryant University, we strive to contribute significantly to the larger world through the leaders we produce. The Sophomore International Experience is one component of this effort," said Ronald K. Machtley, president of Bryant University. "Since its inception in 2007, this unique international program has helped 928 second-year students go abroad to gain a better understanding of their place and purpose in the global community. We are grateful to Sovereign Bank and Santander Universities for their support of our innovative program."
