Bryant among Princeton Review’s ‘Best 377 Colleges’

SMITHFIELD, R.I.  - Bryant University is one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education, according to "The Best 377 Colleges," the 2013 college guide released by The Princeton Review  Aug. 21.

The rankings are based on The Princeton Review's survey of 122,000 students (about 324 per campus on average) attending the 377 colleges in the book. The 80-question survey asked students to rate their schools on several topics and report on their campus experiences.

In the two-page profile of Bryant, students praised the curriculum's hands-on experiences, which "provide you with a sense of how business operates." The students also noted that the faculty "are highly accessible outside of the classroom and very passionate about what they teach" and "bring a lot of real-world experience in their field to the classroom," which helps to "make learning interesting rather than a chore."

International business program makes Bloomberg’s list

The University's international business program was ranked 27th in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek, jumping from its position at 41st last year in the publication's annual list of specialty business programs, the Providence Business News reports.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Bryant University's international business program is now ranked 27th in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek, which released rankings of 14 specialty business programs earlier this month.

International business (IB) is among the University's fastest-growing undergraduate academic programs, with enrollment more than doubling between 2006 (with 150 students) and 2012 (with 322 students). Last year, the IB program ranked 41st.

Another Bryant program — entrepreneurship, currently offered as a minor and a concentration — is rising quickly in the Bloomberg Businessweek rankings. Debuting last year at 97th, the program shot up 26 points to a ranking of 71st this year. Beginning in January 2013, Bryant will offer a concentration in social entrepreneurship as well.

Bryant ranks 14th in undergraduate participation in study abroad programs, national survey reports

SMITHFIELD, R.I.  - Bryant University ranks among the top 15 colleges and universities for undergraduate participation in study abroad programs, coming in 14th in its Carnegie classification (Master's colleges and universities).

The rankings were released in the Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange, published annually by the Institute of International Education in partnership with the U.S. Department of State. Rankings are based on the percentage of graduating seniors who participated in a for-credit study abroad program at some point in their undergraduate careers. For academic year 2009-2010 (the most recent data available), 369 of Bryant's graduating 805 seniors - or 45.8 percent - had taken part in a study abroad program.

Bryant among U.S. colleges with highest ESL participation rates

According to data reported to U.S. News & World Report, Bryant is among the colleges and universities in the U.S. where 5 percent or more of the students graduating in 2010 participated in English as a Second Language (ESL) program.

Bryant U. ranked 16th Best Regional University (North) in U.S. News survey

SMITHFIELD, R.I.  - U.S. News & World Report has ranked Bryant University among the region's top 20 universities, coming in at No. 16 in the Regional Universities (North) category.

This is second consecutive year Bryant has ranked 16th and is the seventh consecutive year of being ranked among the top 20 schools in its category.

"Bryant's innovative, globally-focused education provides the training and insight our students seek in order to be successful and active citizens of the world," said José-Marie Griffiths, vice president for academic affairs. "This ranking - along with other designations that point to Bryant's excellence - affirms the quality of the Bryant experience."

Bryant U. included on list of 2012 Military Friendly Schools

SMITHFIELD, R.I.  - Bryant University has been named one of the country's Military Friendly Schools for 2012.

The list, published by G.I. Jobs, a magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, honors 1,518 colleges, universities and trade schools for the efforts they make to recruit students with military experience by offering scholarships and discounts, military credit and support services.

The rankings are based on The Princeton Review's survey of 122,000 students (an average of 325 per campus) attending the 376 colleges in the book. The 80-question survey asked students to rate their schools on several topics and report on their campus experiences.

In the two-page profile of Bryant, students say the University is "all about real-world application" and is "a technologically-advanced school that prepares you in every way for a competitive job market and/or competitive graduate schools." Students credited the University's 96-percent job placement rate to the "phenomenal" Amica Center for Career Education and the ease of networking with faculty and alumni.
