Two universities cutting cord on land lines

As more and more college students rely on their cell phones, colleges and universities are questioning the practicality of installing telephone lines in residence halls. As this Providence Business News article reports, Bryant is among the universities in Rhode Island in the process of removing land lines from some of its residence halls.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University Board of Trustees today honored President Ronald K. Machtley and his wife, Kati, by dedicating Bryant's award-winning Interfaith Center in their names. (Watch a webcast of the event.)

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Journalists are invited to cover the dedication of Bryant University's new Interfaith Center on Friday, Oct. 2.
The dedication begins at 12:45 p.m. and will feature musical selections, Bryant students reading from the Old and New Testaments and the Koran, and remarks from Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley and Bryant's Catholic, Protestant and Jewish chaplains.
Residence hall among magazine’s ‘Dorms of Distinction’

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University's Residence Hall 17 has been selected by University Business magazine as a runner-up in the publication's Dorms of Distinction competition.
The residence hall, which opened in September 2007, is one of four winners and eight runners-up featured in the magazine's August issue. The Bryant residence hall was chosen for its ability to meet students' needs, including:
- Making students feel at home
- Fostering a sense of community through interior and exterior spaces
- Helping keep students and their belongings safe
- Incorporating green elements in an aesthetically pleasing way
