Thirty-nine Bryant students studying finance and economics, along with a group of faculty members, attended a question-and-answer session that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke held yesterday in Providence. The meeting, sponsored by the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council (RIPEC), was open to 160 students from the state's 11 colleges and universities.

Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley, the president of RIPEC, told the students when he introduced Bernanke that they have a unique opportunity "to have a class taught by the foremost economist in the country."

The Providence Journal covered the meeting in print and on its news blog.
