Staying well through the holidays

December 22nd, 2009

The semester has come to a close. Thank you to all for your wonderful cooperation through the semester. Because of your diligent prevention techniques and attention to advice and recomendations, the outbreak of H1N1 was contained as much as possible on our campus. As you head home or away on vacation please remember to continue the prevention routines. Get plenty of well needed rest. Good nutrition and outdoor exercise routines can be fun and healthy. Continue constant handwashing and avoiding touching your face. When at all possible stay away from ill people.  If you become ill stay home until you are well. It you are traveling watch for travel advisories in that area for flu out breaks. While at home, if you did not take advantage of the H1N1 vaccine here on campus, get the vaccine at home. The CDC is expecting another surge of the H1N1 illness in the Spring. Also as you return to campus it will be the time that the seasonal flu will also be breaking out. If at all possible please get your vaccinations before returning to campus. The vaccines will not be available here on campus when you return.

Have a wonderful, happy, healthy break.

Bryant University's Health Services will receive its first limited shipment of H1N1 vaccine - approximately 700 doses - from the Rhode Island State Department of Health on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

These initial doses will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis to eligible undergraduate and graduate students who register for an appointment in advance. Receiving a vaccination is voluntary.
